ZUMBA Reflection What did I learn about life-long wellness by taking this course? First things first I love ZUMBA! The music mixed with the dance moves just gets my blood going and I absolutely love that combination. One thing I learned about “life- long wellness” is that my workouts don’t have to be boring. Working out needs to be fun so that It can be a “life-long” journey. I also learned that keeping documentation really helps me stay accountable and that I’m more willing to stick to my goals when its written down somewhere I can see daily. I also learned that making friends along the way always helps motivate you while working out. I loved the class we had on Saturdays. The ladies I got to dance with have truly turned into life-long friends and that’s really the greatest part that I’m taking away from this class. How has learning about and applying “lifelong wellness” concepts impacted your life (home, school, work, etc.)? Just like I said in my response to the other questions it has helped my social life for sure. Making life-long friends has really helped me to want to continue and push for my fitness goals. Another reason would be that I realize that I’m in such a better mood in the mornings after working out and my body just feels so much better at night when I do go to sleep. Making sure I’m working out daily has also helped my diet and making better choices in what I eat daily. Overall life-long wellness really helps boost your confidence! It’s a plus when you notice your clothes are starting to get bigger on you.
Discuss specific lifelong wellness concepts learned in this course and how you are going to implement them in your life? I will definitely be writing down fitness goals down more often. For me I notice that I really do well when I see the goals I’m striving for daily on a calendar or on my phone. I also learned that drinking a lot of water definitely helps my body each day to process and break down the foods that I’m putting in my body. And again, making sure that I’m having fun while I’m working out is real important to me. I’ve been on weight loss journeys and they have been long and boring and don’t work for me. When I apply music and dance (two things I love) together I’m more willing to do that daily. I love ZUMBA and it has taught me how to just be FREE and to just dance.
This semester the app I decided to download was the My Fitness Pal app. I loved this app for so many reasons! My first reason was because it was so user friendly and easy to use. Each day there is a tiny reminder to log your food (which I usually forget to do) so its real helpful and kind of bugs you to do so if you forget. Because of this app I have learned to measure just about everything that goes in my mouth. I would never measure ANYTHING I ate and I feel that diet was a huge reason why I wasn't meeting my fitness goals. I also LOVE that the app has a HUGE rang of food data! I can post something I got from the store and the app already has its data in it with measurements and everything. I would totally recommend this app to everyone! So worth it and so worth the space it takes on my I phone.
